Working with a team of interpreters
Whether you occasionally attend multi-lingual meetings or are an old hand at the singular task of running an international conference, we have some advice to help you make the most of our expertise.
- Speak naturally, at a reasonable pace
- Use your mother tongue, if language arrangements permit
- Avoid reading statements
- If you have to read, make sure the interpreters have the text ; give it to the conference organiser who will get it to the team leader
- Remove your earphone and speak into the microphone
- Enunciate clearly when using figures, proper names and acronyms
- Talk to your interpreters before or after the meeting and give them feedback
Cii’s consultant interpreters and our team leaders on-site are there to help you and share with you their lengthy experience of multi-lingual meetings.
Finally, some golden rules to bear in mind when using PowerPoint® or similar presentations.
